I never thought I would be saying this but I joined Twitter and I find that I like it. To understand Twitter, you have to understand a little about how Google works. Apparently the search engine likes sites that update a lot (are fresh) and have links to other sites. Twitter fits the bill on both accounts. It is set up to let friends have a bird's eye view of what you are doing. When I make a Squidoo lens, I can check a box and automatically add a short notice to my Twitter account with a link back to the Squidoo page. I just set up my blog to do the same thing. I think you can set up MySpace and/or Facebook to do the same thing.
Why would you want that? It's all about improved Google rankings and traffic. If Google likes you, it rates you higher and people might find you from a search. At the same time, Someone who likes Squidoo might follow my Twitter posts and end up visiting my Blog and getting witnessed to. When you link up your section of the WWW, you improve traffic flow and get your message out. It's all finally starting to make sense :0)
