Wednesday night I reminded the people that God does not provide for us because of what we do for him. Nor does he provide for us because we have been righteous enough, holy enough, or good enough. He provides for us - saves us - heals us - etc because He loves us. And then on Thursday I read almost the same thing in Alan's newsletter.
So as we believe in the love He has for us...
I was wondering this morning what it is that is satisfied inside us when we are loved by someone. Something inside is not content just because we know we are liked. Something inside is not complete just by having a happy interaction with someone. Why is it that those things are not enough? People tend to desire to be together as a couple; so what is it inside that needs more?
Think about a girl who has just been engaged. Something inside her is at peace. She knows she's loved. She knows she's wanted. She knows someone cares about who she is - that she exists - that she matters.
But I'm having difficulty identifying the component that is settled.
Have you ever noticed how a young woman will act differently when she gets engaged? She seems to act with more confidence. When she makes arrangements for the wedding, she does so with an air of finality - because "this is going to happen."
Revival - why don't we carry ourselves around with that confidence - with that air of finality? I think it is because whatever that component is within us is not settled in that we KNOW we are loved (engaged) by God. We seem to act as if we're still looking to be a couple (in the spirit) - longing for more than to just be liked - longing for more than to just have a happy interaction (worship service, etc).
Adam had authority. He successfully demonstrated his authority in the work God called him to do. But inside, something was missing. After God brought him his helpmeet, he went about his call much more contentedly.
What is that part within us that needs to be content? Because once it is, we'll carry ourselves around with an attitude - an air - a confidence in our position as His beloved, and that will allow Him to manifest His blessing on us, to us, and through us.
