Be careful of who you do business with.
A young man from a poor family wanted to play guitar very much, but his parents couldn't afford to buy him one. A friend of the family who did know how to play the guitar offered him free lessons if he had one.
The young man then started doing odd jobs around the neighborhood and saving as much money as he could. He mowed lawns, washed windows, cleaned out garages, raked leaves, walked dogs, anything for a few dollars. Finally, he had saved up enough to buy a used guitar in good condition at a second-hand store.
When the store owner handed him the guitar, he told the young man, "I don't know how to play guitar, but I can tell you this one needs to be tuned. Do you know someone who will tune it for you?"
The young man told the shopkeeper about the man that offered him lessons, but he was out of town that week.
The shopkeeper replied, "I have a friend who is a retired music teacher, and he'll tune it for you for free if you tell him I sent you." The shopkeeper then wrote down the man's name and address on a slip of paper.
The young man immediately went to Mr. Opporknokaty's house, and he tuned the young man's guitar.
However, the strings were bad, and the guitar didn't stay tuned very long. The young man's parents did give him money for a new set of strings, and he put them on the guitar himself. He then went back to get the guitar tuned again.
You can imagine how surprised he was when the retired music teacher refused to tune the guitar. When the young man asked why, he said, "Haven't you heard? Opporknokaty only tunes once!"
